03. a-punk
My closest friend has an ex-boyfriend who loved A-punk.
I don't even know how I know that, I just do.
The
"A-Punk" music video is one of the most iconic ones from my high school years. I used to watch it a lot simply enamored by the stop-motion-esque movement (due to filming at x1/2 speed then sped up to match music).
I especially loved the spinning part of the music video (gif above) and so decided to emulate that in my experiments by only dealing with spinning.
Scanning while moving always has a very distinct look to it. Weird warping and fragmented imagery that distort the original image. A lot of my peers in undergrad were really into this look (me included), so it was nice to return to using it. Looking at this set as a whole, everything more or less looks familiar and pretty expected.
I think where things got more interesting was when I actually manipulated the paper roll by folding in ridges (experiment F) and got distortiong less from the movement of the paper while spinning it and more from the distortion of the shadows casted by the folds.
